On March 11, 2026, VinEnergo, a subsidiary of Vingroup, officially signed a technology selection and supply agreement with U.S.-based energy equipment manufacturer GE Vernova. Under the agreement, GE Vernova will provide next-generation heavy-duty gas turbines and generator sets for the LNG power plant project in Hai Phong, Vietnam.
This milestone marks a critical stage in the Hai Phong project, which, upon completion, is expected to become Vietnam’s largest gas-fired power plant. It will not only supplement the local power supply but also support the country’s energy transition.

The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi during the 2026 The Energy of Change Summit, witnessed by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung and over 400 international energy leaders. The collaboration was jointly announced by Nguyen Anh Khoa, CEO of VinEnergo, and Eric Gray, CEO of GE Vernova’s Power division. GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik also attended the event.
Industry experts note that finalizing the core equipment supplier provides substantial progress toward the Hai Phong LNG power plant’s goal of grid connection by the end of 2030.
