The ProTech-GII is an overspeed protection device designed to safely shut down steam turbines, gas turbines, hydraulic turbines, and other equipment upon detecting an overspeed or overacceleration event. The device accurately monitors the turbine rotor's speed and acceleration using active or passive probes (magnetic resistive sensors) and triggers a shutdown command to the turbine trip valve or the corresponding shutdown system.

Based on system design, the ProTech-GII is available in two different configurations: dual-redundant trip relay outputs using a 3-out-of-2 voting logic or three independent trip relay outputs without voting logic. Independent alarm relays, 4-20 mA speed outputs, and Modbus communication make this overspeed protection device easy to integrate into any turbine system.
